By creating an account or using shajrah.org you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the platform. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice before they take effect.

A community-driven platform for preserving and verifying Muslim family lineage. It is not an official genealogical authority. Verification is probabilistic and community-driven — not a legal or religious certification.

You own everything you submit. By submitting, you give Shajrah a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store and display it within the bounds of your chosen visibility settings.

You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time. We process requests within 7 days. Records you contributed to shared trees may remain, but your name will be anonymised on them.

Living relatives never appear in the public registry. It's a hard rule in the code, not a setting you can flip. Public search, tribe pages, and the OG share cards exclude them unconditionally.

Anyone can dispute a public record. Disputes lower the confidence score until the tree owner resolves them. We may hide records or suspend accounts that produce false claims, evidence forgery, or persistent harassment.

Don't upload anything that's defamatory, illegal, infringing on others' rights, or designed to harm. Don't try to bypass the privacy rules around living people. Don't impersonate someone whose lineage you're not connected to.

Shajrah is provided "as is." We make no guarantee that lineage records are accurate, complete, or sufficient for any legal, religious, or research purpose. Use it as one input among many.

To the extent permitted by law, Shajrah and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or the records on it.
